Sports administration

One member of the Team (Jeremy Turner) is a Director of the peak national body of Australia’s most successful Olympic sport, Swimming Australia.

The organisation is responsible for management of the national high performance program (Australian national team, elite coaches, sports science, AIS relationship), delivery of community engagement and development programs across the country, the conduct of major national swimming competitions and events, and administration of commercial arrangements with key stakeholders and business partners (broadcast, major sponsorships, funding arrangements with the Australian Sports Commission).

Jeremy Turner was asked by the Board to perform the role of Interim Chief Executive Officer from November 2012 to June 2013 to commence important governance, structural and cultural reforms within the organisation and wider sport on a national basis in response to the reviews that took place following the London Olympics.

This included a major review and implementation of a new organisational structure within the High Performance Department, completion of a culture and leadership review across the sport, and leadership of the sport’s response to the changes in Government funding arrangements as part of the “Winning Edge” agenda.
